Children need to learn to share so they can make and keep friends, play cooperatively, take turns, negotiate and cope with disappointment.
Teaching children to share can make them humble, empathetic, and cooperative. It may feel like a difficult task for all children initially.
The goal is to highlight the act of sharing in a positive light. During play, try to incorporate games that revolve around teamwork.
Sharing isn’t something we as humans do naturally well. Think about your day as an adult. Did you get mad when someone took “your” seating spot at work? Did you snatch one extra choclate from the break room so you wouldn’t have to share them with anyone else? Are there things you don’t want anyone else touching?
